Starting school is an important milestone for both you and your child. Feelings of excitement and anxiety are common as your child prepares for school. This is just the start of an exciting learning journey and we would like to ensure that you are well prepared for this step, by sharing information ahead of your children starting at Pevensey & Westham CE Primary School.

To confirm acceptance of your child’s place you must complete and return the admission form to the school office by Friday 3 May 2019 (paper copies are available at the school office).

We have timetabled a series of events to ensure a smooth and positive transition in to our school. For the purpose of Transition, the cohort have been split into 4 groups of 15 children. Firstly, there are 2 planned music sessions which will take place in the school library, please see your individual letter sent via Parentmail for the dates of your child’s transition.

In June your child will then attend 5 more transition sessions that will help to familiarise them with the Early Years classrooms and the Early Years team. Following this the groups merge into 2 groups of 30 so that the children can start to experience the size of a full class. Please note that times and lengths of sessions vary throughout this process. These dates are not compulsory to attend, they are intended to ensure that your child is well prepared for their first full day at school on Wednesday 11th September 2019

We also use another method of contact called Class Dojo which keeps you updated with whole school events and gives you an insight in to the day to day learning in class.  We will set you up with an account by the end of transition session 5.

All school correspondence is sent out electronically via our Parentmail system. Parents will receive an email with a link to their Parentmail account, you will have one account where you will receive information, newsletters, details of trips, book parents evenings, pay for trips, pay for school dinners, notify absences and purchase uniform, etc.
